A new photo documentary: Cats Helping With Homework!

I am ending my hiatus from slo inspired with a post that involves my newfound life as a full time graduate student and my cats.

Lately, my to-do lists are consumed with homework, papers, research, and reading.
And lucky (and sometimes unlucky because they are very distracting) I have my two loving kitties to keep me company.

Brooklyn loves to place himself right in the middle of the action... In front of my computer, on top of important papers, etc. It's appropriate that Brooky is my main study buddy, since one of my nicknames for him is Buddy!

Since I love taking photos of my cats, it's only natural that this occurred.

So I give you the first installment of:
Cats Helping With Homework!

"Why don't you take a break from working on the laptop and pet me instead?"

"Oh, am I blocking the computer screen?"

"Oh, did you need these books and papers?"

San Francisco post: 7 Radha and Akira

My friend Radha is cute and photogenic.
Her cat Akira is cute and photogenic too.
Here is the proof:

Radha's engagement ring is a beautiful vintage piece... simply stunning!

I just liked these old signs. And asked Radha to stand in front of it for me.
OK!

Akira.
She sort of looks like a mouse.
And she is super pretty...
She loves sitting in the window, looking down on her San Francisco empire below.

Akira was trying to be sneaky and didn't feel like having her photo taken.
Silly kitty.

Honeycomb Shelf Idea! DIY

I love this idea DIY honeycomb shelf, as seen on Design*Sponge!

And I love the colors they chose for it.

If I made it, it would have to be really high up so that my cat Olive wasn't able to jump up on it.
Or I could make it go to the ground, like stairs, and make it really strong and encourage her to climb up it... That would be pretty adorable too!

Olive and Brooklyn outside

My cats are my babies.
And since I am a photographer, and I think my cats can be very photogenic, I often take photos of them! Lately they have been loving sitting outside on our "landing" when it is sunny...
Especially Olive. She loves to chase the leaves and bask in the sunshine.
She will stand on the table next to the door and paw at the door knob and cry until I let her out.
I wish I had more to offer them for an outside experience besides the landing, but for now it will have to do!
Basking in the sun... oh it feels so good!

Olive loves sitting on the railing...
She also loves it when I join her outside.

Brooklyn isn't as anxious to get outside like Olive, but he does enjoy it (I think!).

Sweet Olive.

a hand-made Christmas (using the supplies I currently own)

It's going to be (another) hand-made Christmas.

I know it's only October.
But it's October 11.
And it seems like just yesterday it was August.

I always make gifts during the holiday season- not ALL of the gifts I give are hand made, but I try to make a lot.
This year is no different.
BUT there is a new rule to the production.

I am using material and supplies that I ALREADY OWN.
I have an obsession for fabric. And yarn. And beads & charms. And paper.
Really the list could go on and on.
My point is that I have a lot of supplies for making many awesome gifts.
And for the sake of saving money and clearing out my dresser (I have 3 large dresser drawers full of fabric!), that is exactly what I am doing!

And, since I can not post something on here without an image, here is a video of my sweet cats (Olive and Brooklyn) playing with a q-tip. (And for those of you wondering- no I did not eat a box of butter... that is the cat's box... they love it)
